Specialties: Traditional Celtic flute and whistle. Sea chanties. I help students experience the joy of music right away. On sax and concert flute, we improvise almost at the first lesson. Music reading, rhythm, intonation, tone quality, and dynamics are important. We stay connected to the feel of the music even as we learn to read and workshop technical bits.
Credentials: Teaching credential in physics. 25 years of experience on woodwinds, including performance in college. Member of Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir (tenor). Wooden flute teacher (special programs) at UC Berkeley.
